With experience across every aspect of civil engineering, we are perfectly placed to serve as an independent advocate for clients in any sector, on any project type. A member of the Sweco team, acting on your behalf as Owner’s Engineer/Lender’s Engineer, can add value at all stages of a timeline, guiding you through the complexities of due diligence, planning, design and construction.
An Owner’s Engineer – or a team of them – can be employed to lead, supervise and/or manage the work of the designer, to ensure the client’s brief is met (and help shape the brief itself if necessary) and/or supervise construction. In effect an OE is an independent advocate and risk-mitigator for the project’s owner, who can fill a gap in resources to support and join-up complex aspects of the project to uphold quality and compliance throughout.
Owner’s engineers are usually employed as a third party independent representative when the owner is a ‘lay’ client or does not have the necessary engineering and technical knowhow amongst existing in-house teams to co-ordinate and oversee the process themselves.
Full design-to-development expertise
Our consultants support and facilitate projects large and small from pre-financial close through to post-financial design. We help from initial feasibility, commercial and technical due diligence, performance monitoring and optimisation to full design of a range of energy or waste facilities.
Sweco Owner’s Engineers also act for clients with an interest in reducing UK landfill and meeting targets for renewable energy generation. Our clients range from the public and private sectors to major waste operators and financial investors.
Together with our clients and the collective knowledge of our 22,000 engineers, consultants and other specialists, we co-create solutions to address urbanisation, capture the power of digitalisation, and make our societies more sustainable. With international multi-disciplinary teams, we can call on the right insight and technical capability at the right time from across Buildings, Infrastructure, Advisory & Planning and Compliance.
